Thank you everyone for participating in the holidays sale! This is now officially over, see you again next year 🙂 Even though the poll now has the majority wanting sprites for the Ancient Dungeons set, I’m working on the Sci-fi Fantasy tiles. Simultaneously, I will slowly work on a spriteset MV sized, which I can then reduce to 32×32 for Ace, so people can use it in Ancient Dungeons as well.
For a small preview, check my Working on the logo, and the floating island. Added a temporary sprite for scale. Next up; trees! — Celianna (@CeliannaC). Okay, I’m just toying around with this.
The one thing Ancient Dungeons is truly missing, are matching NPC sprites. So I made a little mock-up of some sprites. (these are the left/right directions, it won’t be 8 directional) Of course, I could actually try to finish this, make enough sprites for people to populate their game with, and keep the pieces on different layers so people can generate their own sprite. I can do this, of course, but making sprites takes as long as making tiles, and I’m unsure if it would be worth my time if no one will actually buy this. I’m still going to make an MV tileset, no worries about that – but would you first want an NPC spriteset pack?
Or skip straight to the MV tileset? Early access version! Because I’m taking forever to complete the Modern themed pack of my Fantastic Buildings collection, I’ve decided to do you all a favour, and let you have access to what is already finished. So you can buy it now, and later on you’ll be e-mailed a link for the updated, and complete, pack. You will not be charged extra for getting the completed pack, the price will stay the same regardless.
When will I have the pack completed? I honestly can’t say, but hopefully within a month or two.
Either way, let’s get on with it! Pack description: Fantastic Buildings: Modern contains a collection of modern themed buildings for you to use in your project. These are ready to be used exterior buildings, optimized for RPG Maker VX and RPG Maker VX Ace, but can be used in any game engine. NOTE: this is an early access version. It is not yet completed. Once you purchase the early access version, you do NOT have to pay again to get the complete pack. You will be e-mailed a download link for the updated, and completed, pack once it is finished.
What’s included in the early access (29 buildings in total): – A bonus TileA2 and TileA5 to create modern roads and sidewalks – Modern apartment buildings – ‘Old’ apartment buildings – Several stores/restaurants – Garage/gas station/warehouse/fire department – Hotel/hospital/school/cinema – Couple of skyscrapers What the early access version does NOT contain: – Residential houses These buildings are best used with the parallax mapping method. Due to the fact that modern buildings are tall in general, tileset space is kind of cramped. Really cramped. I can place maybe two to three whole buildings in a single sheet – that’s not much. And a lot of it gets cut of. Filling up the tilesets would mean I’d have like 15 TileB/C/D/E sheets, and Ace only allows 5 in the first place.
So I’m thinking of simply combining them into a large image, and someone else can simply pick and choose which buildings he’d like, and place it in his own tileset. What do you think?
Wow, we had a busy week last week. Linux Support, Sale, New MV Tools. So busy we didn’t get a good chance to even look at the first MV Tool, SAKAN is an easy way for you to organize and build tiles for your game, right from the RPG Maker MV editor. Have a tile from one tileset that you need in another tileset for your map? It’s as easy as grabbing the tiles you need, and plopping them into the other tileset. Need to build a custom tile from component parts?
SAKAN comes with a bunch of pieces to build from. I mean, do you know what is better than a teddy bear? A teddy bear with a bow! And it only took a few seconds to make. There are a huge amount of component parts that come with SAKAN, allowing you to build all kinds of fun tiles really fast. I could have given him a hat or an evil summoning circle.
Because all teddy bears need evil summoning circles right? But can you make edits to tiles? Can you just cut things together from component parts, or can you make things from scratch? You can do that too.
Rpg Maker Free Tilesets
See, now he has a monocle! (Look, pretend I’m not a terrible artist.) Don’t all Teddy Bears need monocles! And Summoning Circles!
And cute bows and hats. SAKAN can help you create what you need for your game, and explore all the ways SAKAN can make your life easier! What MV Tools would you like to see? How do you think MV Tools could be enhanced? Tell us in the comments below.
Here are some new tiles, especially useful for a farm. The animal boxes inside the barn might be hard to set up right since you want the animals behind the walls but the player sprite in front of it. Set the tiles in question to star passability and then use NeonBlack’s Large Sprite Display Fix Script. To hinder the player to walk into the boxes, you also have to work a lot with the 4-way passability settings, especially for the tiles under or over the star/terrain tag 7 tiles. You’ll find some fitting animal sprites in my sprites section.

You may have heard of the Resource Staff concept, in which talented artists from an RPG making community combine their talents to create a package of goodies for the RPG making world. (I believe this was the brain-child of Pineda, or at least of the staff when Pineda was actively working his magic in the old RPG Maker VX.net site.) Did you know that our excellent friends in the German RPG Making Community have a most outstanding set of Resource Staff releases?
(The materials in the banner above are from Panda Maru, a contributor there.) And these resources are all sitting there, waiting for you to appreciate, download, enjoy and use them! Here they are: go snatch them up! (terms of use translate easily in Google Translate) Granny’s hints to you are: When you first open the individual resource threads, the tabs with each resource may take a little longer to load. = Look everything over in the thread by clicking on the tabs, and see all the best goodies!
Then use the download link to get the zip file. Here is a picture of how Granny organizes all of her folders from the RPGMaker-VX-Ace.DE Resource Staff: (oops!
Two folders are inconsistent! Even Granny gets it wrong, you know!) Other tips to help you find things: 1.
As you can see above, I named each download by date, with the source, and included a brief description of the contents. Create a text file for each main folder. The NAME of the file should be “2013 09 ReStaff Contents” or something similar. In your text file, list the elements you find in this folder: sprites – modern – gate – use words you might search for. When you search for your resources, you will find this text file and know exactly what resources are being referred to. Alternatively, make a text file, put absolutely nothing in it except maybe the link back to the source of the resouces, and use the NAME of the file to list the elements you might search for (works for simpler lists.) Enjoy!
Pineda has made several really great cop sprites for RPG Maker. I wanted to make a sprite of a guy in overalls and a baseball cap. I looked over Pine’s stuff here: And didn’t find a guy in a baseball cap, OR a guy in overalls, despite the fact that Pineda has about 100 sprites So I frankened his chubby cop and his regular cop with a couple of his other sprites to make this “off duty” police officer in overalls. Hope you get some use out of it. Credit Pineda and GrandmaDeb in your non-commercial game.
Someone asked if I was trying to make Mario and Luigi sprites for RPG Maker VX/Ace. Well, these sprites have black hair, not brown, and the Mario sprites would have white gloves and plumbers equipment, not normal hands, and blue eyes, so nope. These are cops with cop hats (not stars or M’s on the hats.) Just guys in overalls. If I could have found baseball hats, that’s what they would have had. = Peruse Pineda’s latest stuff here: Posted in. Please feel free to use in your non-commercial game.
